Florida Man Alleges OTC Blood Pressure Medication Contained Carcinogen

Florida Resident Sues Prinston Pharmaceutical for Presence of Carcinogens in Over-the-Counter Blood Pressure Medication

On October 25, 2018, Florida resident Ron Molinaro filed a complaint against Prinston Pharmaceutical Inc., Solco Healthcare LLC, Solco Healthcare U.S. LLC, and Huahai US Inc. in the U.S. District Court of the Middle District of Florida. Molinaro alleged that the generic blood pressure medication he bought (Valsartan-Hydrochlorothiazide) contained a potentially carcinogenic substance (N-nitrosodimethylamine) due to mistakes made during the drug manufacturing process. By filing a product liability lawsuit against the aforementioned parties, Molinaro aims to recover damages, punitive damages, restitution, and/or injunctive relief for the harmful conduct of the pharmaceutical manufacturers involved.

According to the plaintiff, the Valsartan medications created by the named pharmaceutical companies failed to conform to their warranties and representations of the product due to the fact that it was not created in a manner compliant with current manufacturing regulations. Molinaro also alleges that, as a result, the Valsartan products he used were adulterated.
